Recruitment and selection refresher

  • Who is it for?

    For academic and support staff who attended the one-day course or refresher course more than three years ago. 

    For staff who are new to Brookes but have had training and extensive experience in recruiting and interviewing staff in previous roles. Please contact us to confirm your eligibility. 

    The format of the programme:

    Half-day workshop 

    Course content:

    This is an opportunity for participants to review their recruitment experience and share their experiences with colleagues. 

    The core recruitment skills relating to the paperwork, shortlisting, interviewing and decision-making are revisited as well as Brookes' policies and procedures. 

    Participants will receive an up-date on any recent legal changes in particular those changes which relate to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and they will explore the implications of unconscious bias in the recruitment process. 

    Academic and Senior Appointments:

    Please note that most workshops are aimed at general recruitment (both academic and support roles) but a few workshops will address academic appointments only. 

    One workshop each year will be geared to the needs of those people who are involved in senior appointments. Please see the dates. 

    Cancellation fee:

    If you are unable to attend a course we require 5 working days' notice of non-attendance, otherwise a cancellation charge of £50 will be made for each day of a course (or part thereof).
