New Dean of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences appointed

Dr Astrid Schloerscheidt

Dr Astrid Schloerscheidt has been appointed as the new Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at Oxford Brookes University and takes on the role from 30 May 2017.

Astrid is a Cognitive Neuroscientist with a PhD in Psychology from the University of St Andrews and has a wealth of experience in research, teaching and academic leadership.

She first joined the University in September last year as Associate Dean for Strategy and Development in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.

Over the last few months we have developed exciting plans for the Faculty and I am looking forward to working with colleagues to realise these plans.

Prior to this Astrid worked at the University of Dundee for 12 years. During her time there she held a number of strategic leadership roles including Dean of the School of Psychology and Associate Dean (Academic) in the School of Social Sciences. 

Dr Astrid Schloerscheidt said: “I am delighted to have been appointed PVC/Dean of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences and to have the opportunity to continue working in this new role with a great team of academic, professional services and technical staff. Over the last few months we have developed exciting plans for the Faculty and I am looking forward to working with colleagues to realise these plans.”

The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences provides foundation, undergraduate, post-qualifying, postgraduate and research study opportunities in a wide range of subject areas including biological and medical sciences, environmental sciences, health care, social work, psychology, sport, exercise and nutrition.
