Out of the Blue support local hospice with another festive charity single
Tuesday, 20 December 2016
Out of the Blue, Oxford’s premier all-male a cappella group have released their new Christmas Charity Single, a version of the festive classic ‘Sleigh Ride’.
The group, made up of students from the University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University, have risen to worldwide fame over the last two years with a series of viral videos totaling over 10 million views: not least, covers of Shakira’s ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ and Eartha Kitt’s ‘Santa Baby’.
Group president Ifan Jenkin said:" 'Sleigh Ride’ as a Charity Single was carefully considered – it’s a joyous and vibrant Christmas classic. After the success of previous Christmas videos, ‘Sleigh Ride’ lets us show off the fun personalities of the group’s members, while also helping us raise thousands for charity, which is something we are very proud to be able to do.”
The boys, including Oxford Brookes students Will Northcott, (third year, Music/History of Art) and Jonathan Gibbs (second year, Business and Management), are incredibly proud to be supporting Oxford charity Helen & Douglas House once more.

The hospice relies almost entirely on public donations, providing the best possible care for children and young adults with life limiting illnesses, and much-needed support for their families. Out of the Blue donates all its profits after costs to Helen & Douglas House, as well as collecting with buckets in shows throughout the year; over the last five years the group has donated over £100,000.
Described by the Daily Telegraph as “a cappella royalty,” Out of the Blue has been among the UK’s top vocal talents for sixteen years, having been semi-finalists on Britain’s Got Talent in 2011, and appeared on The One Show, Cuckoo and more.
The group has since gone from strength to strength, becoming the most successful a cappella group in the UK by number of championships as well as the highest-grossing non-professional act at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Out of the Blue are hugely excited to be showcasing the hard work that the members have put into raising as much as possible for Helen & Douglas House through this year’s Charity Single!
