Our partnerships

Brookes prides itself on building strong partnerships locally and around the world.

Through partnerships, the university shares its research and expertise with companies best able to develop them commercially, as well as attracting additional funds to support its work. Many companies based in the region, including publishers, automotive engineering businesses, and biotechnology firms, offer valuable work placements for students, greatly increasing their chances of securing employment in their chosen field at the end of their course.

Widening participation

Relationships with the local community, and with the region as a whole, are equally important, and have allowed Brookes to play an important part in widening participation in education. The University has close links with a number of further education colleges in the region, including Reading, Abingdon, Henley, Newbury, Oxford, Swindon, and West Oxfordshire. Many of these links allow students to progress from HND courses at their college to a degree course at Brookes, while, in other cases, Brookes validates courses taught within the colleges. Brookes’ Centre for Continuing Education runs a number of short courses designed to offer continuing professional development to people working in a wide range of fields.

A good neighbour

The University has three Oxford campuses, in Headington, Wheatley and Harcourt Hill. It takes its role as a good neighbour very seriously, employing a Community Liaison Manager who has developed a number of innovative and highly successful schemes to encourage greater consultation between the University and the local community, including the publication of a twice-yearly community newsletter. The Widening Participation team is responsible for encouraging local school children into the world of higher education, particularly those belonging to under-represented groups.

International links

Our international partners are as important to us as our local partners. International links enrich our academic culture and provide excellent opportunities for students and staff to widen their horizons.

We have partnerships with institutions from all around the world, including Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Poland and many other countries.

The relationships we have developed with other universities mean we can offer student exchanges, where international students can come to study at Oxford Brookes for one or two semesters and Oxford Brookes students can choose to study abroad for part of their degree too.

We have partnerships with institutions around the world: Brookes partnership courses are offered in Hong Kong, Hungary, Indian, Malaysia, Singapore, Poland and worldwide. And we've established relationships with other universities to provide student exchanges - so that international students have the opportunity to study at Brookes for one or two semesters and our students the opportunity to study abroad for part of their degree as well.
