Ashley Ponsonby was, from 1980 to 1996, Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, representing the Queen in the County. During this time, he was additionally President, Vice-President, Patron or Trustee of numerous Oxfordshire organisations, including the Radcliffe Medical Foundation. Until early 1981 he was a Managing Director of the international investment bank J Henry Schroder Wagg & Co Ltd, where he was concerned primarily with managing investments and fundraising for industry.
Sir Ashley was awarded the Military Cross for his service in the Coldstream Guards during World War II.
Sir Ashley sadly died in June 2010.
