Baroness Faithfull

In 1995 Lady Faithfull was chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Children, the culmination of a lifelong commitment to the welfare of children. A social worker for many years, she was Director of Social Services for Oxford City Council between 1970 and her retirement in 1974.

In 1974 she launched the Faithfull Foundation, a child protection agency giving help to sexually abused children and their families. She was also patron of a number of organisations, notably Barnardo's and the NSPCC, and her other commitments included the presidency of the National Children's Bureau. Lady Faithfull was made a life peer in 1975.

Lady Faithfull sadly died in late 1995.
