Deborah Shaw is Associate Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company and is a huge figure in the international theatre world. She is currently Director of the RSC-led World Shakespeare Festival, planned for the 2012 Cultural Olympiad. In 2008 she teamed up with 14 of Iraq’s most respected theatre artists to found the Baghdad Iraqi Theatre Company, aiming, as she says, ‘to re-establish the proud tradition of independent theatre in post-war Iraq’.
