Joan Sallis was the first national president of CASE (Campaign for State Education) and a leading pioneer in training school governors. In 1989 CASE was given the Jerwood Award for distinguished contributions to the theory and practice of education, an award made ‘as a tribute to the work of Joan Sallis’.
