Dr John Comerford

John Comerford is a chartered surveyor and town planner (retired) and a long-standing supporter of Oxford Brookes. A former external examiner for the University's BSc in Real Estate Management, he has held the posts of Chair of the Professional Liaison Committee and Chair of the Oxford Centre for Real Estate Management. He was also Chair and Facilitator of the Visioning Syllabus Conference for the Oxford Institute for Sustainable Development (OISD). Since his retirement John has remained active in his pursuit of a more sustainable environment and climate change issues in the built environment. In 2008 he established the Comerford Climate Change Research Fund to promote greater integration of climate change issues into professional surveying education. He has been working with Peter Dent from the Department of Real Estate and Construction to embed these issues into the University's Built Environment programmes.
John's son, Paul Comerford, European Economic Director for EDAW, as Visiting Lecturer to the MSc Climate Change Lecture Series , also underwrites the University's climate change Action Plan
John has also been working on his golf strokes and brush stokes - the latter leading to painting exhibitions for various charities.
