Mohammed Aziz-ur Rahman

Mohammed Aziz-ur is a local restaurateur and business man. Born in Bangladesh he came to Oxford in 1969 and says he is a ‘British Bangladeshi’. His first restaurant, the Star of Asia, which opened in 1978, was the first in Oxfordshire to serve the now famous Chicken Tikka Masala, his Polash Tandoori Restaurant was the first Indian restaurant in the country to serve food without artificial colouring and his flagship restaurant, the Aziz in Cowley Road, is a frequent award winner. In addition to his restaurants and business ventures he is very active in local community and charity projects. He has been a director of the Bangladesh British Chamber of Commerce for 16 years and is a member of Court at the University.
