Born in Nova Scotia, Canada, Nancy J Lane is a specialist in Cell Biology at Cambridge University and one of the foremost scientists working in the UK today. She is a Fellow and the past President of The Institute of Biology and past Vice-President of the Zoological Society of London. Nancy also chaired the UK's Athena Project for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology (SET), Cambridge's WISETI, and is the former chair of a Government working party on women in SET.
