Dr Nicholas Bunnin studied at Harvard College, where he gained an AB summa cum laude, and as a Rhodes Scholar at Corpus Christi College, Oxford, where he was awarded a Doctorate in Philosophy for his thesis on self-deception. He taught at the University of Glasgow and University of Essex before returning to Oxford to direct a project funded by the Leverhulme Trust to prepare a Dictionary of Western Philosophy in English and Chinese.
He is currently Director of the Philosophy Project at the Institute for Chinese Studies at the University of Oxford and since 1988, has been the Chairman of the British Committee of the Philosophy Summer School in China.
