Pefkios Georgiades

In 2003 Pefkios Geogiades became Minister of Culture and Education in his native Cyprus. For many years one of his country’s leading architects, he was the 1996 winner of the Pomme D’Or of the International Association of Tourist Journalists for the Laiki Yitonia, which centred on the conservation and rebuilding of a neighbourhood in the old city of Nicosia. Since assuming his current position, one of Pefkios’ principal activities has been working with the committee appointed to look at educational reform in Cyprus.
Pefkios died in 2007.
