Professor Peter Grindrod

Peter Grindrod is an internationally known mathematician turned entrepreneur.

He studied his first degree at Bristol University and for a PhD at Dundee, before becoming a Lecturer and Research Fellow at the University of Oxford. He left full-time academia in 1988 to join an environmental risk management company, and in 1998 co-founded Numbercraft Limited, which was later sold to US-based Lawson Software, for whom Professor Grindrod now works.

He still writes on mathematics and modelling and is the 2006/07 President of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications. He was awarded a CBE for services to mathematical research and development.
