Philip Armstrong

Philip Armstrong is an internationally recognised expert in corporate governance and is Head of the Global Corporate Governance Forum, a partnership between the World Bank and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

Born and educated in Zimbabwe, he qualified as a Chartered Secretary in 1984 and has had a distinguished and varied career in executive and senior management in a number of South Africa’s listed companies.

He headed the team that produced internationally acclaimed guidelines on corporate governance adopted by Commonwealth Heads of Government in 1999 and was the principal convenor and main editor of the 2002 King Report on Corporate Governance in South Africa.
