As a portfolio worker Baroness Fritchie is active in many fields. Her main substantial post is Consultant on Strategy and Leadership working out of Mainstream Development. She is also Chair of 2gether NHS Foundation Trust for Mental Health Gloucestershire, Chair of the Independent Appointment Board for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Member of the Editorial Board of Whitehall & Westminster World, member of the British & Irish Ombudsman Association and President of Women in Banking and Finance.
In 1999 she was appointed Commissioner for Public Appointments and a civil Service Commissioner, a post she held for seven years.
In 1996 she was created Dame Commander of the British Empire and in 2005 she was made a life peer and as Baroness Fritchie of Gloucestershire she sits as a cross bencher in the House of Lords, and serves on several committees in the House.
As well as the Honorary Degree from Oxford Brookes Baroness Fritchie holds Honorary Degrees from six other Universities.
Her charity work includes being President of the Chronic Pain Policy Coalition, Patron of Pied Piper Appeal, and Ambassador for Winston's Wish a grief support charity for children.
