Rex Richards

Sir Rex Richards began his long association with the University of Oxford as an undergraduate in the early 1940s. He went on to serve as a fellow of Lincoln College, as Warden of Merton College, and as Vice-Chancellor of the University (1977-1981). Widely published in scientific journals, mainly on the subject of magnetic resonance, Sir Rex received numerous awards in his long career, including the Davy Medal and the Royal Medal from The Royal Society. He has had a long interest in the visual arts and have served as a Trustee of the National Gallery, of the Tate Gallery and as Chairman of the Henry Moore Foundation. He is now retired.
