In the mid-1980s Ruth Caleb became the BBC's first female head of drama when she was appointed Head of BBC Wales Drama. After a period as acting Head of Drama Group, BBC TV, Ruth returned to her former role of producing. Her recent production credits include many award winning television and film dramas - including Last Resort, Tomorrow La Scala, Out Of Control and the Prix Italia and BAFTA for CARE; the BBC1 series Judge John Deed (as executive producer); and the cinema film Bullet Boy, which opened in April 2005. More recently Learners with David Tennant, Born Equal with Colin Firth and Robert Carlyle and in 2009 A Short Stay in Switzerland with Julie Walters.
