Sarah Veale

Sarah Veale is one of the country’s leading experts on employment law, and was awarded the CBE for services to diversity in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in June 2006.

She is currently Head of the Equality and Employment Rights Department at the Trades Union Congress, the body which represents 58 unions and 6.2 million workers in Britain.

During her 25 year long career with the TUC, Sarah was responsible for developing union policy on employment law, and its response to the 1999 Employment Relations Act.

She has a BA in English Literature and History from Oxford Brookes. She was President of the Students’ Union (and subsequently Vice-President of the National Union of Students) and Editor of the student newspaper The Last Edition.
