Professor Sir Tim Brighouse

Tim Brighouse was awarded an honorary doctorate in 1989 for his services to education. A graduate of St Catherine's College, Oxford, Tim began his teaching career as Head of History at a Derbyshire grammar school.
From there he moved into a similar role with Chepstow Community College, and in 1966 he became Assistant Education Officer for Monmouthshire Education Department. Roles with Buckinghamshire Education Department and the Inner London Education Authority (ILEA) followed, and in 1978 he was appointed Chief Education Officer for Oxfordshire.
Tim spent eleven years in the role, during which time he worked closely with Oxford College of Technology/Oxford Polytechnic, before moving on, in 1989, to take up the position of Professor of Education at Keele University.
