Changing people: our health

Oxford Brookes is pioneering cutting edge cancer research and is also helping to shape the diet of the nation.

  • We are what we eat

There has been a dramatic increase in our understanding of how major diseases like diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease and cancer are associated with diet.

  • A hearing future

Children who are deaf have always struggled with literacy as it’s difficult for them to understand how sounds are represented on the page.

  • Getting moving

Another example of Oxford Brookes’ influential work in health policy and practice is the Movement Science Group, which works with adults and children with conditions affecting their mobility, such as multiple sclerosis, stroke, cerebral palsy and spinal cord injury.

  • Understanding cancer

Many factors can affect our health, not least natural radiation exposure from sources including the sun, the earth or building materials.
