Brookes' student awarded top architecture accolade

Vehicle manufacturing plant (web)Oxford Brookes’ student, Claudia White, has won a top architecture award from the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Claudia, 22, was awarded the SOM Foundation Prize 2007 at the RIBA President’s Medals ceremony for her 3rd year undergraduate project, Transology: A Vehicle Manufacturing Plant for Southwark, London.

The judges described her work focusing on eco-transport systems as ‘memorable and compelling.’

Claudia said: "It’s an amazing achievement for me and for Brookes. My tutors and friends on the course were fantastic and the award has proven to me that hard work pays off. The President’s Medals are a great way to let students voice architectural views and ideas."

Claudia is currently on work placement at the internationally celebrated architectural practice, Future Systems, in London.

"I’m having a fantastic time at the company, working with a real diverse range of architects and product designers. The experience I’ve gained so far has been invaluable." she added.
