Knowledge-based digital prototyping of construction projects

Wednesday 03 December 2008, 18:00 to 19:30, Lloyd Lecture Theatre

WembleyJoe Tah

Construction projects are becoming increasingly complex. The new Wembley Stadium (pictured) is a salutary reminder of this, suffering serious delays and cost overruns due to a fixed-price contract and problems resulting from risks that had not been anticipated. But is it possible to rehearse the construction process before work begins, down to the most precise detail, so project managers and stake holders can avoid such nasty surprises?

Joe Tah will present his work on the application of artificial intelligence and software engineering techniques in project modelling and simulation, offering solutions to this problem.

Professor Tah is Professor of Project Management at the Department of Real Estate and Construction.
