John Henry Brookes - an unsung hero - the spiritual founder of Oxford Brookes University

John Henry Brookes can be seen as the spiritual founder of Oxford Brookes University. Bryan Brown will trace Brookes’ life as an artist and craftsman, teacher and an outstanding educationalist. Bryan will reflect on his educational philosophies and how they translate into the life and work of Oxford Brookes today.

Bryan has a close relationship with the university. He is well placed to talk on his subject as an alumnus of Brookes, he also attended neighbouring Cheney School, founded by John Brookes.

Bryan Brown is an Honorary Fellow of Oxford Brookes and adviser to this university and recommended the name and designed the brand identity in 1992.
