Artist Richard Hamilton remembered by Head of the School of Arts Alison Honour

“The recent death of Richard Hamilton, known internationally as the father of British Pop Art was received as sad news to students and staff of the School of Arts at Oxford Brookes University. The Richard Hamilton Building, home to the School of Arts, was named after and opened in the presence of the artist on 20th March 1996.
“Richard Hamilton had strong connections with Arts at Oxford Brookes University as he was invited to use the printmaking facilities to edition his works, providing students at the time an opportunity to meet him and learn about his practice.
“Richard Hamilton will continue to be known and remembered by art students as one of the most important and influential British Artists of our time and at Oxford Brookes University on a daily basis as we learn and teach in a building in his name."
