Oxfordshire Science Festival

The Oxfordshire Science Festival runs from 26 February to 10 March and takes on the theme of Enterprise. This year, Oxford Brookes University are taking part by offering several free events which are open to the public:

Investigating Genes

Saturday 24 February

10:00 – 4:00pm, Oxford Brookes University, School of Life Sciences

This is the science behind the crime scene. Carry out a crime scene investigation, compare your genetic fingerprint to others and isolate your DNA from your own cells. Mix and match series of experiments taking from an hour to a whole day.

Suitable for 14 years plus.

Investigating Local Wildlife

Saturday 24 February

10:00 – 4:00pm, Oxford Brookes University, School of Life Sciences

Do you have difficulty in identifying your local biodiversity? Do you fancy learning a bit more about nature in Oxford? Come and meet scientists at Oxford Brookes University and find out about Wildkey, identification kits on mobile devices to help novices identify and record the wildlife around them.

Suitable for 7-15 years.
