Exciting new arts courses for the public
The School of Art at Oxford Brookes has announced an extensive programme of arts short courses.
There are over 30 courses in all aimed at complete beginners and professional artists alike aged 14 and upwards and which are open to everyone who wishes to improve their skills. The diverse programme includes experimental life drawing, printmaking, glass-making, casting, fashion illustration, digital image manipulation, Photoshop classes, black and white photography and film-making.
Most of the courses are taught by staff members at what is one of the UK’s strongest fine art departments. They cover three broad areas: portfolio preparation (for those putting together applications to HE or FE courses or creative jobs), art and design and film and photography. There are also a number of featured programmes which include an intensive foundation portfolio course designed for students who wish to undertake a 12-week foundation in art and design.
Alexis Soul-Gray, Short Course Leader, said: “Oxford Brookes University itself began life in 1865 as the Oxford School of Art and today remains faithful to those roots by continuing its tradition of excellence in the field.“ These courses are designed to unlock people’s creativity whether as a rewarding past-time or perhaps launch them onto further study of the arts or in a new career direction.”
