From student to Oxford entrepreneur
James Whitman has opened his first SQuash, a new fresh food and juice bar in Headington, after first starting work on the idea whist studying Business and Finance at Oxford Brookes.
After graduating with a first class honours, James decided that he wanted to build his life and business in Oxford.
He put all the learning from his degree into practice, working to secure the funding, finding the right suppliers and location to start up SQuash that will offer the very best of soups, smoothies, salads, sandwiches and cakes.
“I wanted to create something using fresh produce that people will enjoy and a place they’ll tell their friends about,” says James.
”We offer our customers a place that is part of the community, it serves fresh food fast. All our food will be sourced locally, where possible and we will look after the environment by using biodegradable packaging, recycling, stocking fair-trade and organic options and by supporting a different charity each month.
“My degree has stood me in good stead… at Brookes they don’t just teach you the theory but encourage you to go out and do it.”
