Professor Chris Cooper

Professor Chris Cooper is Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Business. He has special responsibility for internationalisation.

Chris was previously Director of the Christel DeHaan Tourism and Travel Research Centre at the University of Nottingham Business School, and before that Head of the School of Tourism at the University of Queensland, Australia.

Chris graduated in Geography from University College London, where he also went on to complete his PhD. His early career was in the travel industry and he has extensive international research and consultancy experience as well as a well established reputation as an international leader in tourism education. He has published widely and edits three book series in tourism.

Chris is a member of the United Nations World Tourism Organization Leadership Forum and Panel of Experts, and chaired its Education Council, the peak body for tourism education throughout the world, from 2005-7.

He was awarded the United Nations Ulysses Prize for contributions to tourism policy and education in 2009.
