June Girvin
June Girvin is Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. She is a qualified nurse and previously worked in the National Health Service as a clinician and senior manager.
Prior to joining Brookes and moving into Higher Education leadership in 2001, June was responsible for leading the commissioning and purchasing of education for the NHS in Avon, Gloucester and Wiltshire. June's background gives her a unique insight into the demands and issues facing frontline health professionals today.
As Pro Vice Chancellor, June has specific responsibility for oversight of Development and Alumni Relations across the University in addition to making a general contribution to all aspects of University strategy, leadership and management.
She has published widely in the field of leadership and nursing and her current scholarly interests include coaching as a development tool for senior staff and philanthropy in higher education.
June is a member of the UK Council of Deans of Health, a Community Leader with Sigma Theta Tau (the American Honors Society for Nurses), a registrant of the Nursing and Midwifery Council and a member of the Royal College of Nursing.
