January 2012: Four awards, two prestigious posts for Brookes KTP Associates
Oxford Brookes KTP Associate Catia Guimaraes at IHG global headquarters
Congratulations to our Oxford Brookes KTP Associates! In the last few months we have had a succession of good news items:
Catia Guimaraes was named Business Leader of Tomorrow for her KTP work on business continuity and disaster recovery with InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), and received her award at Innovate 2011 from Secretary of State Vince Cable.
Charlie Symonds, working on our sustainability KTP with Stannah Stairlifts, was announced as runner-up for Graduate of the Year 2011 by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), for ‘single-handedly providing his company with a framework for its sustainability strategy for the next five years’.
Jonathan Biddulph achieved a top three position in The Engineer Technology & Innovation Awards 2011, featuring in the Manufacturing & Process Innovation category for his KTP project on materials and joining technology with YASA Motors.
Lisa Pasquale is now Measurement, Monitoring and Evaluation Expert at the Institute for Sustainability, having successfully completed our sustainable architecture evaluation KTP with Architype. Earlier in the year her work helped Architype to win the 2011 Building Awards ‘Cut the Carbon’ Award.
Oliver Buckley, formerly our KTP Associate with Nominet UK, was appointed Software Engineer at the Diamond Light Source, which accelerates electrons to near light-speed to generate brilliant beams of light for research and development.
KTP Associates are recruited by the university to work on Knowledge Transfer Partnership projects with our partner companies, under supervision from academic experts. To be an Associate, a candidate must have a good first degree and usually a few years of commercial experience. The role of Associate is regarded as an excellent opportunity for career development.
