About EiE

The Environmental Information Exchange (EiE) is a not-for-profit group based at Oxford Brookes University . EiE supports the environmental aspirations of organisations in Oxfordshire and the South East of England by raising awareness of the practical actions they can take and facilitating their implementation. EiE works with local authorities, national government, partner groups, and charitable trusts to engage a wide range of organisations on environmental issues. EiE also works with Oxford Brookes University through the School of Life Sciences to deliver the University's environmental goals in the local community.

Goal

EiE's goal is to help organisations take actions that reduce the impact their activities have on the environment and improve the sustainability of their organisation.

Objectives

  • To provide information on environmental issues that is practical, tailored to each organisation, and guides the organisation through implementing the actions.
  • To maintain and make publicly available a directory of contacts providing local environmental services.
  • To provide networking opportunities for organisations to discuss environmental problems and exchange tried and tested solutions.
  • To share best practice through a wide range of case studies.

Support

EiE provides support to local organisations mainly through the following means:

  • Website
EiE's award-winning website provides practical information on environmental issues that are relevant to organisations. The website aims to improve understanding of environmental issues, how these relate to organisations, and provide practical guidance on efficient use of resources and the tools to implement change.
  • Workshops
EiE delivers workshops, seminars and networking events on a range of environmental topics. The content is designed to deliver relevant background and practical information on each topic, while encouraging the development of ideas and sharing of best practice solutions amongst attending delegates, for implementation in the workplace.
  • Site Visits
By visiting an organisation's workplace, EiE can provide expertise and support the measuring, monitoring, and auditing of resource use and environmental impacts. Site visits are followed up with details of recommended actions to reduce environmental impacts and increase the sustainability of the organisation, helping to guide the organisation in prioritising its next steps.
