Aluminium
Reduce / Reuse
For most organisations, aluminium is unlikely to form a large part of their waste.
Aluminium is most commonly found in drink cans. If very large numbers of cans are being used, alternate materials could be used - buying in bulk may save money and waste. However, because of their easily recyclable nature, aluminium cans are often a better choice than materials such as plastic.
Some manufacturing businesses may have aluminium off-cuts from the process. In most cases, these will already be recycled as aluminium is a valuable material.
However, in some cases it may be possible to reduce waste aluminium by reviewing both the steps made in manufacture, and the sizes of sheets / extrusions purchased from suppliers.
Although reviewing manufacturing is a complicated process, it can be a very profitable step. By redesigning or re-evaluating steps in manufacture of aluminium items, businesses can save by reducing the purchasing costs of the 'raw' aluminium they need to use in manufacture.

Recycle - Aluminium Recycling Services
The following list of companies will accept aluminium for resale or recycling. By listing a company here, EIE is not indicating any formal recommendation of suitability. It should also be noted that Local Authority can banks are for residential/domestic use only.
Before you contact a company, it may be helpful to check the background information page.
Note: All organisations listed are either based in Oxfordshire, or have confirmed that their services cover Oxfordshire.
Charges are often reduced if cans are separated, crushed and bagged. Can crushers can be purchased from the retailers listed here.
Cans are also accepted in most "comingled" recycling collections. However, it is advisable to check with your waste collector before including any items you are unsure of these collections.
