Bedfordshire Energy Auditing Training Programme

(Date - "heading 4") 15th July 2009

Background

A new training programme developed by Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire and Luton Borough Councils will address the rising costs and environmental impacts of energy use across the county. This new programme will help organisations and individuals save money, reduce energy and allow staff and volunteers to develop new skills.

While most energy efficiency training ends when the workshop does, this programme will provide ongoing support to participants for up to 6 months. This new programme developed on behalf of Bedford Borough Council, Central Bedfordshire Council and Luton Borough Council and funded by the Climate Change Skills Fund will train representatives from a whole range of organisations to perform energy audits, as well as individuals who will then be able to continually improve their organisations and their own homes and community groups as well as train others to improve efficiency.

This is a rare opportunity to receive a fully funded place on the training course for your organisations, and will provide a fantastic opportunity for any Bedfordshire organisation struggling to reduce its energy costs.

The programme has been specifically designed to target delegates from sectors where energy efficiency impacts will have the most benefit: businesses, schools, community groups and homes and it is open to residents and organisations from across Bedfordshire.

Each of the day long training events cover the basics of energy efficiency auditing, highlight issues specific to each attendee, and will allow time for attendees to discuss their requirements one on one with trainers to maximise the energy savings they can achieve at their own organisations. After the event auditing tools will be available to all participants, and training providers will be available to answer questions and support the ongoing efforts of Bedfordshire organisations to save energy.

Workshops

There are six initial workshops available at venues across Bedfordshire. Delegates only need to attend one session.

The full programme consists of:

  • A full day training session for each delegate
  • Access to auditing tools
  • Support for providing training to colleagues
