Waste disposal
Overview of what we do
Campus services offer a waste disposal service that is compliant with legislation.
All office waste is removed every morning by the cleaning staff. The caretaking staff weekly remove the recycling waste from the designated recycling waste bins.
We provide advice and guidance on the safe, environmental disposal of equipment in accordance with the WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directive. Anything not recyclable or re-useable will be classed as waste and there are various ways we dispose of it depending on its type.
What services we can offer
- office waste removal
- hazardous waste removal
- recyclable waste removal
- refrigerator removal
An additional service we offer is the removal of furniture and equipment.
Confidential waste
We also provide a confidential shredding service, whereby the shredding is collected from your department and disposed with our contracted shredding company. Please email us for collection and the provision of shredding bags.
Waste
Firstly waste disposal is minimalised through the use of recycling facilities offered in every office and communal area on campus. If you do not have this facility but would be interested, please contact the environment team who will be able to supply you with one or will be able to tell you where your nearest recycling area is located.
Any further waste that is non recyclable will be disposed of through our 40 foot containers located on each campus.
Hazardous waste
Due to the nature of chemical waste, we ensure strict guidelines in disposing of this type of waste to ensure any risks and impact to the environment are minimalised.
We work closely within legislative guidelines to ensure safe handling, storage and disposal of waste. We also make sure that the contractors we are working with also follow the same legislative guidelines and regulations.
Our service standards
- All our staff are fully trained
- Working to the high standards set out in the service level agreement
- Working with contractors to ensure high levels are met and maintained.
