Morrell Hall, blocks A and B (99 beds) are being replaced with new halls of residence which will provide 178 rooms. Block One is on site and due for completion in mid-August 2009. Block Two is currently being prepared for demolition and clearing.

The building

The new Blocks 1 & 2 will provide 99 and 79 rooms respectively consisting mainly of 6 or 8 bed flats, with a small proportion of wheelchair accessible units and larger units for graduate accommodation.

Sustainability

The development is being constructed to achieve BREAM “Very Good” standard and includes measures such as storm-water mitigation using a large underground rainwater harvesting tank.
