Oxford Brookes professor to speak at international conference

Monday, 06 December 2010

William Gibson, Professor of Ecclesiastical History and Director of the Oxford Centre for Methodism and Church History, has been invited to speak on the role of domestic chaplains in England at the time of Leopold of Lorraine (1679-1729) at an international conference marking the re-opening of the Chateau of Prince Leopold of Lorraine.
The chateau was destroyed by fire in 2003 and has been completely restored by the French regional government of Meurthe and Moselle. The reopening of the chateau will be celebrated by a conference organised by the regional archives and the universities of Nancy and Lyon. Prof Gibson is the leading authority on domestic chaplains in the early modern period.
