Undergraduate entry requirements

Academic qualifications

Qualifications that fulfil the entry requirements for undergraduate degrees include:

  • a recognised foundation programme
  • A-levels, AS-levels or Vocational A-levels
  • International Baccalaureate
  • European Baccalaureate

If you have a high school diploma or school leaving certificate, then you may first need to complete a foundation course before you can study an undergraduate degree in the UK.

English language requirements

If English is not your main language then you will also need to show that your English is at a high enough level to succeed in your studies.

Subject Language requirements
Law, Psychology, Architecture, English Language and Communication, English, Accounting and Finance
  • IELTS 6.5 (with 6.0 in reading and writing, 5.5 in listening and speaking),
  • TOEFL ibt 87 overall (with 22 in reading, 22 in writing, 20 in listening and 23 in speaking)
Courses in Health and Social Care
(Please note some courses are not open to international applicants)
  • IELTS 6.5-7.0 (with 6.0 in reading and writing, 5.5 in listening and speaking),
  • TOEFL ibt 87-95 overall (with 22 in reading, 22 in writing, 20 in listening and 23 in speaking)

All other undergraduate courses
  • IELTS 6.0 (with 6.0 in reading and writing, 5.5 in listening and speaking).
  • TOEFL ibt 78 overall (with 20 in reading, 19 in writing, 18 in listening and 21 in speaking)
Final year on Business degrees
  • IELTS 6.5 (including 6.0 in reading and writing, 5.5 in listening and speaking). or above
  • TOEFL ibt 87 overall (with 22 in reading, 22 in writing, 20 in listening and 23 in speaking)

English language courses

If you do not meet the English language requirements our University English course is available throughout the year. You may be able to apply for one visa to cover both courses.

This course will also help familiarise you with university life, our study facilities and teaching methods before starting your degree.
