Foundation
We offer a number of foundation courses for students who need an extra qualification before they can progress onto the first year of an undergraduate degree here in the UK.
Do I need to take a foundation course?
If you have completed secondary school in China, Cyprus, Greece, Japan, Jordan, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Korea, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South America, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, USA and have a high school diploma or school leaving certificate you will need to take a foundation course. Please note, this is not an exhaustive list.
If you have fewer than 13 years of schooling or are not sure if your current qualifications are suitable for undergraduate study in the UK, please contact Oxford Brookes International or email your country's representative.
Foundation courses
Foundation courses prepare you with specific subject knowledge and provide you with the skills you will need to study at university. We offer the following foundation courses:
Foundation pathway
Designed to prepare students for undergraduate degree courses such as Business, Communication, Computing, Humanities, Law, Politics, Social Sciences and Hospitality Management.
Four year degrees
These courses are classed as an integral part of a four year degree programme: International Foundation Business & Technology and International Foundation Arts, Humanities & Law
One year diplomas
You should take the International Foundation Diploma or the International Foundation Diploma (Extended pathway) if you need to improve your English skills and the Foundation Diploma in Liberal Arts if you are a native or near-native speaker of English.
Art and Design Foundation
An intensive introductory year studying many art and design areas. You will also produce a portfolio to support your application for an art and design degree programme in the UK.
Built Environment Foundation
Designed for students who do not have the required subjects to begin degree courses in Real Estate Management, Planning, Construction, Architecture and Interior Architecture. Successful completion allows you to progress to undergraduate degree courses in the built environment.
Engineering Foundation
Successful completion of the engineering foundation course allows direct entry onto a range of Oxford Brookes University engineering, science or technology undergraduate degrees.
Technology Foundation
On successful completion, this programme leads directly onto one of our undergraduate degree course in computing, media or mathematics.
Computing Foundation
On successful completion of this course you can progress directly onto one of our undergraduate degree courses in computing, media or mathematics.
