Foundation courses for international students

  • Our international foundation courses improve your study skills, use of academic English, and subject knowledge to prepare you for a wide range of bachelor's degrees.

Once you enrol, you are guaranteed a place on an Oxford Brookes University bachelor's degree, if you pass the foundation with appropriate grades. You can take a detached International Foundation Diploma that offers flexibility at the end of the course, or an integrated foundation combined with a specific degree.

We can help you apply for further study at Oxford Brookes or at another university during your course and we will advise you of your best study options.

    Entry requirements

If you have fewer than 13 years of school with a high school diploma or school leaving certificate you will usually need to take a foundation course before taking a degree in the UK. See our entry requirements from your country to see if you should take a foundation. Email to discuss how a foundation can get you on to your bachelor's degree.

What will you study during your foundation?

You can choose subject streams containing classes related to the degree you wish to study. Each one includes degree-level modules that you take alongside British students. Our five subject streams prepare you for degrees in:
    • Life sciences
    • Law, politics and psychology
    • Social sciences, humanities, media and communication
    • Business, marketing, accounting and hospitality
    • Computing

You will also take modules to improve your language, research and critical thinking skills, and learn about inter-cultural communication in a truly international environment.
