How to apply
To apply for our Exchange or Study Abroad programmes you will need to meet our academic and English language requirements. After receiving your application, we will liaise with the faculty at Oxford Brookes University to obtain approval for your study programme.
International Study Abroad programme
If you are an international student from outside the EU but your university is not an Exchange partner with Oxford Brookes, then you can apply for the Oxford Brookes Study Abroad programme.
Entry requirements
| Academic requirements | You should have completed at least one year of university studies and have a good academic record, with a GPA (Grade Point Average) of 2.8 or higher (on a 4.0 scale for the USA) or equivalent. |

| English language requirements | If you are not a native English speaker you will have to meet our English language requirements of IELTS 6.0 (with 6.0 in reading and writing) or equivalent. Some courses, such as Law and Psychology, require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. How to apply
Please read the guidance notes carefully and complete the application form.
You need to fill in the application form using the pdf typewriter tool - you will see the symbol on the form when you open it. (You may not see the typewriter tool if you are using the Google Chrome browser, so you may need to use another browser such as Firefox or Internet Explorer).
When you have filled in the form, then print it out and sign it. You will need to provide the following information:
- a copy of your passport
- an up-to-date academic transcript from your home university
- one academic reference letter
- your personal statement (approximately 300 words)
- evidence of your English language qualifications (if applicable)

European Study Abroad programme
If you are an EU student studying at a European university that does not have an Erasmus agreement with the relevant academic departments at Oxford Brookes, then you can apply for our EU Associate programme.
Note: If you are a European student not from the EU and not coming through the Erasmus scheme, please apply through the Study Abroad (International) programme.

Erasmus and International Exchanges programmes
We have exchange partners in a variety of countries both within Europe and internationally. You should apply through your home institution.
Exchange programmes
- Erasmus Exchanges: If you are studying at a European university that has an Erasmus exchange agreement with Oxford Brookes then you can apply for the Erasmus exchange programme.
- International Exchanges: If you are an international student studying at one of our partner institutions in Argentina, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Thailand, Uruguay or the United States, then you can apply to study at Oxford Brookes for up to two semesters.
How to apply
For both Erasmus and International Exchanges you should apply through your home institution’s Exchange Co-ordinator, who will provide you with the relevant application documents.
If you are not a native English speaker you will have to meet our English language requirements of IELTS 6.0 (with 6.0 in reading and writing) or equivalent. Some courses, such as Law and Psychology, require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. If you need a visa to come to the UK as a student you will also need to meet the UK Border Agency's English language requirements.
We offer a range of English language courses if you need to improve your language skills before coming to Oxford Brookes.
