MyiLibrary electronic books
To connect on and off campus
Using MyiLibrary
Over 300 business related titles from MyiLibrary are now available. We continue to add any titles available in the MyiLibrary database from Business School reading lists and the collection covers many different aspects of Management, Business and Economics.
If you enter MyiLibrary directly you will find it difficult to browse the full range available because many titles are under various and unexpected subject headings, so we have produced a spreadsheet with author, title and subject listings to help you.
Books on MyiLibrary are meant to be read on screen. If you attempt to print or save more than 10 pages the title will be frozen.
To connect on or off campus
This database needs Athens authentication on campus in addition to off campus. This is to ensure that if you print or save more than your quota of 10 pages that you are identified and the book is frozen for only you.
You must login to Athens first. If you have not done so already, go to the Library homepage at: http://www.brookes.ac.uk/library and click on the Athens login button at the bottom. Enter your Brookes username and password. You will be logged on to Athens for the next 8 hours so long as you do not close your browser and clicking on the off campus URL for any Athens authenticated database will connect you directly.
Navigate back to this page. Open our MyiLibrary spreadsheet and when you have selected your book scroll to the right to see the link . Click when on campus and you will enter it directly if you have logged on to Athens. Alternatively find the book you want on the catalogue and click on the link there.
When off campus you will obtain another login request. Your Athens username and password will not operate in this box. Under the heading Athens at the bottom, click on click here to access the Athens Authentication Point. You will connect directly if you have already logged on to Athens following the directions above.
Alternatively, you can click on the off campus URL for MyiLibrary and browse or search for books from the homepage, but note the advice given above that browsing by subject is not easy: http://www.myilibrary.com/MyiLibrary/AthensLogin.asp
Using MyiLibrary
- When browsing the MyiLibrary homepage please heed our warning above about the unexpected subject headings used. Commerce (not Business) can be found only by clicking on "Social Sciences".
- The book loads page by page beginning with the cover. Obtain the next or previous page by clicking on the forward or backward arrows at the top of the page.
- Enter page numbers in the box next to Go To Page to find a specific page.
- Use the links under the TOC (Table of Contents) tab to navigate to specific chapters. (Click on the + signs to expand the lists.)
- Click on the Search tab to obtain a search box in which you can enter a word or phrase and produce a list of all the pages containing that word in its context (scroll down). You can go directly to the most relevant entry and read forward or backwards from that point.
- If you have found a section that interests you it is possible to print or save either the single page or a group of up to 10 pages. Click on the print icon or the save icon at the bottom right of the page (scroll down).
- Do not attempt to print or download more. If you do, the title will be frozen for up to 24 hours.
- Click on the Logout button when you have finished.
