Journals in Management, Business and Economics

If you have all the details of a journal article that you need, first of all check our collection of electronic journals using the A-Z list. We have many more journals available electronically than we have in print. However, if you cannot find the article in e-format it is still worthwhile to check the catalogue to see if it is available on our shelves in print.

Then, if you still cannot find the article you need, check out our Interlibrary Loans service, which can provide a copy for you from the British Library, usually within 7 days.

You cannot use the A-Z list to try to find articles on a subject you have to research. To do that you have to use the databases such as Business Source Complete and Emerald that are listed on our subject page. A full explanation is given in the guides that are linked.

Electronic journals are available on and off campus via the A-Z list

If you have a complete reference for a journal an A-Z list of full text electronic journals is available. A complete listing of every electronic journal, whether contained in the EBSCO databases, Business Source Complete or Academic Search Premier, or contained in other publisher's databases such as Emerald or Elsevier Science Direct, is included. In addition all of the electronic subscriptions that some publishers provide with their print subscriptions are organised in this service.

Using the A-Z list on campus is fairly straightforward. Enter the title of the journal, not the title of the article. The list will give links to the databases that contain the journal. The databases will all look different but most should list the years of the journal title available, then the issues and then the contents of the issue so that you can download it.

Using the A-Z list off campus is fairly complicated. Before you try to use it you must log on the Athens using the Log in to Athens link on the Library homepage and navigate your way back to here.

We strongly recommend that you look at the exercise on the A-Z list off campus in Section 4 of our Virtual Learning Course "A guide to using business and economics databases", which covers most (not all) of the business databases. Every student and member of staff can register themselves by consulting the page on the Virtual Learning Course at: http://www.brookes.ac.uk/library/business/virtuallearning.html

However, for your convenience we have linked the exercise from here: https://www2.brookes.ac.uk/library/resources/How_to_use_A-Zlist.pdf

This document is on the intranet, off campus users will have to enter their Brookes username and password to enter.
