Library scanning service
The Library offers a scanning service for teaching staff- we will scan book chapters and journal articles and deliver them as PDF files to be included in your Brookes Virtual courses.
The service will operate under the terms of the CLA Scanning Licence.
The conditions include:
- limits on the amount of any one publication that may be copied
(per module: one book chapter; one journal article from a journal
issue)
- only material published in the following countries may be scanned: UK, US, Australia, Canada, France, Ireland, Spain, South Africa, Switzerland
- copyright notices must be included in all scanned material
The service will be free for scanning from material owned by Brookes but there will be a charge for scanning material which is not owned by Brookes. The fee is £6 for a book chapter. Journal articles cost between £5 and £25; you can look up the journal title on the British Library Catalogue and check how much extra your faculty will be charged.

As a member of teaching staff it is possible for you to do your own scanning under the terms of the CLA Scanning Licence to include scanned material in your Brookes Virtual courses. See Scanning materials for delivery in Brookes Virtual or consult the Library guide Scanning for teaching purposes (Word document).
