External Borrowers Scheme
- Free or paid membership of the External Borrowers Scheme does not include any entitlement to borrow from Short Loan, Special collections, or from the School Experience Centre at Harcourt Hill. The Library Catalogue is available to use but there is no access to electronic resources (eg journals or databases) or to the University network. The scheme does not include use of Interlibrary Loan services, booking group or individual study rooms and use of photocopying services provided for our staff and students.
- Please carry your card with you whenever you visit the Library.
The Headington Library operates an access control system and you
will not be able to enter the Library without a valid card. You
will not be able to borrow items without your card.
- All members of the External Borrowers Scheme are subject to Library Regulations. Membership is discretionary and we reserve the right to refuse applications for membership without redress and to withdraw services where members are in breach of Library Regulations.
- Fines are payable for items returned late. You can continue to borrow throughout a semester if your fines are £5 or less. Fines of over £5 will prevent borrowing and must be paid in full. At the beginning of each semester the fines of £5 or less incurred during the previous semester must be paid or borrowing will be suspended. If items are kept overdue for more than 21 days we send you an invoice for the replacement cost. You must pay this if the item is lost, or return the item and pay the fines. We charge a non-refundable £5 administration fee for having to send this invoice.
A special membership package is available to Oxford Brookes alumni.
