Guides to off campus services and facilities
Whether you are on placement, living or working at a distance, studying part-time, based in Swindon, or just 'down the hill' at Marston Road, there are times when getting to the Library can be difficult. However, there are lots of library services designed to make life easier for you when you are at a distance:
Oxford Brookes University Library services
See our guide to off-campus services and facilities, which explains and links to the many library services and resources you can access from anywhere with an Internet connection (or in some cases just by phone!)
NHS Library services
While you are on placement your placement organisation's library can offer you a number of services. See South Central Placement Students Charter (Word Document 203KB) for details if your placement is in the South Central region. If you are on placement in the South West, please see our Swindon webpage. If you are placed in another SHA, your placement co-ordinator, the librarians at your placement institution's library, or the Health Care Librarians may be able to advise you about services.
Local NHS libraries
Please read our guide Using Other Libraries for a list of some of the local NHS Libraries that you have access to.
NHS Library catalogues and useful webpages:
SWIMS: knowledge resource of the SWIMS Network of health libraries in the South and West of England
Health Library and Information Services Directory contains details of over 900 library and information services
Health Libraries Network catalogue links to UK health library catalogues.
Swindon
Please see our webpage for Swindon Ferndale Campus students which includes links to NHS Library services in the South West Strategic Health Authority.
