Other university libraries
If you live or work some distance from Oxford you may wish to use other academic libraries.
- Higher education institutions participating in the SCONUL Access scheme give borrowing facilities to staff and research students, part-time and distance learning students and full-time postgraduate students. Full-time undergraduate students have reference access only. A SCONUL application form should be completed when requesting access.
- Libraries belonging to the M25 Consortium also give access to students under the SCONUL Access Scheme. Find out which libraries you can visit by checking InforM25.
- MASC25 (Mapping Access to Special Collections in the London Region) is a consolidated online resource guide to printed special collections in university libraries in the M25 Consortium.
For access to any other library, ask your Subject Librarian for advice as reference access can often be arranged.
Vacation reading
- Under the SCONUL Access scheme you may be able to use the library of a university near your home for reference. The production of your borrower card may suffice, but please check with them before you go (most university libraries now have their own web pages). Your Subject Librarian may be able to advise you further.
Students on placement
- Students on industrial placement, fieldwork, or similar course secondment, may use some libraries in the area of their placement, both for reference and borrowing: ask your Subject Librarian for advice.
- Full time students on placements over ten weeks duration can
use the SCONUL Access scheme to obtain borrowing facilities at member libraries.
