About us
The Media Workshop is a central support unit within the Learning Resources Directorate.
Its primary goal is to support the enhancement of flexible campus-based and open-learning course delivery and research through the use of online learning and graphics media.
Background
Media Workshop was launched in March 2000 as part of the Brookes Virtual Strategic Plan. Alongside its long-standing graphics work, the team was enlarged from three to six to support the growing use of online and web-based learning media around the University.
With the new staff arrived new skills to complement the graphics and photographic team: web design, staff training and educational development, pedagogy and best practice with communications and information technologies (C&IT), project management.
The establishment of the Media Workshop is evidence of the major push towards e-learning that is underway at Brookes and of the University's commitment to maintaining its reputation for excellence in teaching and learning by means of electronically enhanced communications, course administration and content distribution.
Does all this mean an end to the graphics services of Media Workshop?
Media Workshop's core team of Graphic Designers has been serving the graphics needs of Brookes staff for 10 years and more . From desktop publishing to signmaking, from photography to humorous cartoon illustrations, our portfolio is vast and varied. We take pride in our reputation for friendly, personal service. And, of course, as part of the Learning Resources Directorate, for all teaching, research and internal work our services are free , we charge only for materials.
