Our team within the Media Workshop is the primary University-wide support centre for staff training and development in the use of Brookes Virtual and other supported technologies including, Respondus, CourseGenie,Wikis and TurningPoint 2008. Further supported tools are added periodically.
We provide advice and guidance in association with the Oxford Centre for Staff and Learning Development (OCSLD) to all Brookes staff and post-graduate students on matters relating to good practice in teaching and research using Information and CommunicationsTechnology (ICT). This includes sound pedagogy for online course design, supporting the online learner, sustaining use of electronic discussion boards, netiquette, finding and evaluating Internet resources, computer assisted assessment, enhancing the quality of the online learning experience, course evaluation, copyright and IPR in online learning content.
We provide
training and development for staff using Brookes Virtual, the University's virtual learning environment (powered by CE6); in conjunction with OCSLD. We offer a full and flexible programme of training events, including regular workshops held in the purpose-built Media Centre Training Room (M114).
We provide one-to-one and small group consultancy on technical and pedagogic matters relating to specific online learning projects.
There are also lunchtime seminars led by guest speakers from the HE and corporate sectors as well as by Brookes staff.
We are responsible for the provision of user documentation for supported software packages for use in conjunction with our training and consultancy services.
External Consultancy
As part of the Brookes Virtual dissemination programme, Media Workshop are happy to provide seminars and workshops on matters relating to the implementation of ICT in teaching and learning to external educational institutions.
