Details of my research

Professor Torr runs the computer vision group researching machine intelligence and perception. The work is both theoretical and applied and there are industrial links with the like of Sharp, Sony, HMGCC and Vicon. The study of computer vision involves understanding how to make a machine see and understand the world. This could be used in anything from interactive games to Minority Report style human computer interface controlled by gestures, to the ultimate holy grail, an artificially intelligent 'living' seeing robot.

Professor Torr was awarded the prestigious Wolfson Research Merit award by the Royal Society in 2008 for his groundbreaking work on computer vision.
